Al-Paslow > Here is an early photograph of the 30 inch Thaw mount just after installation at Allegheny Observatory around the turn of the century.
Al-Paslow > This mount from Al Paslow's 14.25 inch f-5 Star-Liner Telescope will probably be used to temporarily support the 10 inch D & G refractor telescope in the future.

It features large 2 inch shafts and a R.A .drive as well as slow motion controls on the declination axis. It's a fairly large animal !!
Al-Paslow > Mathis set-up close up. An early sketch is in the background.
The sketch was later reworked to include the rear bearing and proper distances in the planned drive area.
Al-Paslow > This image shows the compleate Mathis set up. Both gears and motor drive.
Al-Paslow > Mathis Big gear positioned on mount of 10 inch refractor. The collar in the picture may need to be removed to gain additional polar shaft area.
