Al-Paslow > Exposed to see the size and mass of both blanks.
Al-Paslow > This is how you pack a full thickness 12.5 inch mirror blank on your way home.
Al-Paslow > Astronomical Trip to the Dominican Republic photo
Al-Paslow > The pencil writing on the mirror's back reads " 1/7.2 " but the name following is not as clear. Perhaps " Mr. Bude" or " Mr. Burle" ??
Al-Paslow > 10 inch Cave Reflector mirror assembley.
Al-Paslow > This image taken from the back of the 10 inch primary has the date of 8-10-58 in ink on the original Pancro mirrors Inc sticker.
This was the company that aluminized almost all of Caves mirrors for many years. This of course now dates the instrument of being a 1958 model. When I saw this I was "floored". This telescope has the original coatings !! To my suprise they are somewhat useable !!
The mirror also has written in pencil 72 - 1/2 inches and 1/7.2, also the name Mr. Burke appears on the mirror.
The original coatings combined with a clean rack and pinion focuser, finder scope and tight equatorial mount substantiate the previous owners claim that this was a barely used instrument !!
Al-Paslow > 14.25 inch Star-Liner Primary and secondary mirror.

Notice the 3 retaining clips that hold the big mirror in its mirror cell. You can also see a "tiny black" spot on the exact center of the 14 inch primary mirror that is used to line the optics up.
Al-Paslow > 14.25 inch telescope mirror.

This image shows the huge 14 inch primary f-5 telescope mirror.

The large diagonal spider is also pictured.
