I made the trip to Stellafane in Springfield VT to attand the 2010 Springfield Telescope Makers Convention. It was a great and informative adventure. Here's some images.

This is one of the few things Gerry Logan did not change for his telescope. The legs he used had a sand blasted appearence that he kept when building the instrument.

Here is how a Stellafane judge would see the telescope entry attached to the telescope.

This is really impressive. The entry states that Gerry Logan of Lakewood California brought a telescope all the way to Springfiled Vt to enter into the competition.It also states that the mount, drive, tube, Pier/trip, Focuser, Finder, Setting Circles and Slow motion devises were completely homw made as well as the 6 inch oil spaced triplet lens. Gerry is an old, old timer who lived in the Vermont area and moved to California many years ago.

$Eyepiece end of this 6.3 inch folded refractor. It is a Springfield design. Note the dropped counter weight which aides when adjusting the latitude of the telescope from California's LA area to that of Springfield VT.$
